How we compare launch monitors
Every number on this site comes from recorded data — here is where that data comes from and how it turns into comparisons, rankings, and verdicts.
How specs are collected
Each launch monitor has a structured record in our database: tracking technology, measured and derived metrics, space requirements, software compatibility, subscription terms, and price. Values are recorded from manufacturer spec sheets, retailer listings, and published hands-on reviews, and the record keeps the source alongside the value. When no source publishes a number, the field stays empty — pages show a dash or say nothing rather than guessing.
How prices are tracked
An automated job checks real retailer product pages every week and appends what it finds — the live price, the date, and the retailer — to a price archive that is never edited by hand. The archive currently tracks 28 models, with observations recorded from September 21, 2026 through October 12, 2026. The “price checked” dates and 90-day low/high figures on product, comparison, and best-of pages are computed from this archive at build time, so they can never drift from what was actually observed.
How verdicts are computed
Comparison verdicts (“Buy A if… / Buy B if…”) are computed from the recorded spec differences between the two products — the same differences shown in the comparison table on that page. Each clause is grounded in a specific recorded delta; when a spec is missing for either product it is left out of the verdict rather than estimated. Best-of rankings work the same way: every eligible product is scored on a fixed, published set of criteria, missing data scores zero, and each page shows the criteria and points behind its ranking.
How often things update
Prices are re-checked weekly by the automated job. Spec records are updated as sources change — new models, firmware-added metrics, discontinued software support — and every product and comparison page shows the date its underlying data last changed.
Independence
The site earns affiliate commissions on some outbound retailer links (see the affiliate disclosure), but rankings and verdicts are computed from the recorded data alone — retailers and manufacturers cannot pay for placement or a better verdict. The site is built and maintained by Patrick Kavanagh.
