Buying a Used or Discontinued Launch Monitor

Which launch monitors are discontinued?

Three more units are superseded without being discontinued — still sold new, but with a recorded successor on the market: the Rapsodo MLM ($199.98, succeeded by the MLM2PRO), the Square Golf Launch Monitor ($699, succeeded by the preorder Omni), and the Uneekor EYE XO ($6,499, succeeded by the EYE XO2).

What replaced each one?

The SkyTrak line is the deepest chain: original → SkyTrak+ → ST MAX, each still cross-shopped against the next. The original’s software world has already shrunk — its E6 Connect and TGC 2019 support is recorded as dropped — which matters more on a used purchase than any spec row. The Mevo family funnels to one place: both the original Mevo and the Mevo+ are recorded as superseded by the Mevo Gen2. The closeout Mevo+ at $1,099 sits $200 under the Gen2’s $1,299, both carry 20 recorded data points, and neither has a subscription — the classic case where the successor is not a mandatory upgrade. What should you check before buying used?

• The plan follows the device. If the model requires a subscription, a used one requires it too. A used MLM2PRO needs Premium ($199.99/yr) for club data and simulation; any used SkyTrak needs a plan for course play (recorded minimum $99.99/yr); a used Uneekor keeps its free Player tier — full ball and club data — but needs Pro ($199/yr) for any third-party sim. A used Bushnell Launch Pro still shows ball data on its screen without a plan, per Breaking Eighty’s coverage.
• Software support can already be gone. Dropped integrations are recorded facts in our database: the original SkyTrak and SkyTrak+ lost E6 Connect and TGC 2019, and the Full Swing KIT’s E6 support is likewise recorded as dropped. A used simulator unit is only as good as the platforms that still accept it — check the compatibility matrix before you pay.

When is the successor the better buy?

Work each pair from recorded prices, not instinct. The Mevo+ at $1,099 closeout versus the Gen2 at $1,299 is a $200 question between two subscription-free units — closest to a pure hardware decision. The SkyTrak+ at $1,195 versus the ST MAX at $1,695 is a $500 gap where both sides need the same plans, so the fee cancels out of the comparison.
