Launch Monitor Subscription Costs Compared

The sticker price is not the price: 13 of the 39 launch monitors in our database need a paid plan to unlock their full feature set, and among the 11 of those that publish a full-access price, the median fee is $599 a year. Over a few years of ownership those fees are large enough to reorder the value ranking between units that look alike on the shelf — this page keeps the full recorded fee table in one place.

Subscription models

Every recorded plan requirement and annual fee in the database. “Required” means the maker gates core functionality — usually club data, course play, or simulator connections — behind the plan; the device still powers on without it.

The other 18 monitors in the database record no subscription of any kind: every current Foresight unit — GC3 ($6,999), GCQuad ($15,999), QuadMAX ($19,999) and Falcon ($16,999) — plus the Square Golf Launch Monitor ($699), FlightScope Mevo Gen2 ($1,299), FlightScope X3C ($12,745), TruGolf LaunchBox ($2,999), Ernest Sports ES Tour Plus ($999.99), and the budget radar class: PRGR HS-130A ($199.99), Shot Scope LM1 ($199.99), Swing Caddie SC300i ($399.99), Swing Caddie SC4 Pro ($599.99), and GolfBuddy Shot Mate ($179.99). The remaining four are lifecycle cases — the preorder Square Golf Omni ($1,599.99), the closeout FlightScope Mevo+ ($1,099), and the discontinued FlightScope Mevo and Swing Caddie SC4. The two pre-release units (Par Breaker Swing Pulse X10, Rapsodo CLMPRO) have no recorded subscription model yet, so they are excluded rather than assumed free. What works without a subscription

What a required-plan unit still does if you never pay is a recorded field in our database, sourced from the maker’s own pages and named coverage:

• Bushnell Launch Pro — “Ball data works right out of the box on the device’s built-in screen with no subscription” (Breaking Eighty): all 13 listed ball metrics, but limited app access, no club data, and no sim software without Silver or Gold.
• Uneekor (all five units) — the free Player package lasts forever and keeps full ball and club data plus a virtual driving range. Course play and every third-party sim connection sit behind Pro ($199/yr) or higher.
• SkyTrak+ / ST MAX — the free Basic plan keeps the driving range with ball and club data (“You can use SKYTRAK at a minimal level without a membership” — skytrakgolf.com FAQ). Course play and the game-improvement suites need a paid tier, from Essential at $99.99/yr up to $599.99/yr.
• Rapsodo MLM2PRO — the device works without Premium, but Rapsodo’s membership page states that speed training, club data, and full-course access require the $199.99/yr membership, which also gates GSPro, E6, and Awesome Golf connections.
• Trackman iO — the first year of the software subscription is included with purchase; after that the recorded tiers run $700–$1,100 per year.

Club data unlock

On some units the club-delivery numbers are a separate purchase from the hardware — the recorded unlock paths:

• Bushnell Launch Pro: club data needs the Silver plan, a recorded $199/yr.
• Rapsodo MLM2PRO: club data rides the $199.99/yr Premium membership.
• FlightScope Mevo Gen2 and Mevo+: full club data is a recorded $1,499 one-time Pro package rather than a recurring fee.
• Trackman iO: full club data (9 of 9 club metrics) requires the Home Complete package — a recorded $9,500 one-time step-up plus the $1,100/yr tier; the base Home tier keeps club speed only.

Units that measure the club directly with no unlock at all are ranked at best launch monitors with club data.

How fees change the five-year cost

Add five years of the recorded full-access fee to the street price and the shelf ranking reshuffles:

• The Rapsodo MLM2PRO ($599.98) looks $99 cheaper than the Square Golf Launch Monitor ($699). With Premium at $199.99/yr, the MLM2PRO’s five-year cost is $1,599.93 against Square’s unchanged $699 — the cheaper-looking unit costs about $900 more, and the order flips before the first year is out ($799.97 vs $699). The $599.99 lifetime membership is the recorded way to cap that gap. Full comparison.
• The Bushnell Launch Pro ($2,999.99 plus $499/yr Gold) reaches $4,496.99 over three years and $5,494.99 over five — still below the subscription-free Foresight GC3 at $6,999. At recorded prices the GC3’s zero-fee advantage does not overtake the Launch Pro until roughly year eight, so the fee alone should not push you to the GC3 — the decision is about what each bundle includes.
